Specialist Dyslexia Assessments and Tutoring in North Wales and Cheshire

About

Davies Dyslexia Discovery was founded in 2026 by Emily Davies to provide assessments and specialist tutoring to those experiencing literacy difficulties and to provide services for both educational providers and workplaces.

We have a wealth of experience, working with children and adults across primary, secondary, further and higher education. We hold professional memberships as Members of the Dyslexia Guild (MDG) and have current Assessment Practising Certificates (APC).

“An Assessment Practising Certificate is a quality assurance standard ensuring that qualified assessors work within the rigorous regulations, are up to date with changes and best practice within each facet of psychological assessment and report writing. It is a standard that is highly respected by clients, employers, organisations and other professionals” Dyslexia Action. It also means the diagnostic assessment reports produced by Davies Dyslexia Discovery can be used as evidence in a Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) application.

Enhanced DBS held, fully insured and safeguarding trained.

Why have a Dyslexia Assessment?

A dyslexia assessment helps explain why reading, writing or memory tasks may feel harder than they should. It gives a clear understanding of how someone learns and processes information. For many people, finally having an explanation of their difficulties provides reassurance and often boosts confidence.

An assessment also provides the formal evidence needed for support in education or work, such as Exam Access Arrangements, DSA support or Reasonable Adjustments. It highlights both strengths and difficulties and offers practical, personalised recommendations that can help make everyday tasks more manageable.

Above all, a dyslexia assessment offers understanding. It equips people with the information they need to move forward with confidence and know what support will make the biggest difference.

Services

Dyslexia Screening

Face-to-face or Remote - £70

This assessment is a short screener and will take approximately 30-45 minutes. The screener will help to determine the likelihood of dyslexia, but it is not a diagnosis. If following the screener, you wish to pursue a full dyslexia assessment and book within four months, £50 will be taken off the cost of a full assessment.

Dyslexia Assessments

Face-to-face £500 / Remote £480

This assessment will take approximately 2.5-3 hours and will identify whether dyslexia is present. Prior to the assessment, background information must be supplied from yourself and a range of individuals in your life, including family members, friends, education and/or work providers. Once completed, a full written report will be issued within 4 weeks. This report will be based on the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) guidance.

Dyslexia Tutoring (FE/HE)

Remote - £50 an hour

1:1 tuition for individuals with officially diagnosed or suspected dyslexia. Tuition is personalised and is designed to improve study skills, literacy and confidence.
